Who is Ollie DeVoid?

Well-intentioned and presumably human, Ollie has developed a talent for the bizarre after a lifetime of surviving it.

They spent their formative years sloshing around in Florida’s humid, surreal wetlands, sailing the rivers and oceans, and visiting family all through Appalachia. Growing up queer in a southern small town meant that a lot of the time, Ollie had to find their own friends, and make their own fun. A child’s imagination left to run rampant, and a landscape with a strange, old magic of its own provided the bedrock for all the different stories they love, and tell, today. People say “write what you know,” and well, Ollie knows weird. If you want to find them, look for people playing Dungeons and Dragons, or watching Indian cinema… or just go out to a swamp nearby and start yelling. They’ll hear you eventually.

Ollie earned an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Central Florida in 2022, and they will always be grateful to the kind faculty and staff for guiding them down the road to becoming a better storyteller.

Ollie DeVoid is a Transgender, Queer, Neurodivergent author specializing in genre fiction. They have a special love for Science Fiction and Folk Horror, and for combining genres in new, exciting ways.
